About the blog

Elizabeth, the Queen of Hungary
The blog is called Die Blonde Sisi (German and means: The blonde Sisi) named after Elizabeth, or better after her nickname, Sisi, the empress of Austria, queen of Hungary. I have always admired long 19th century hairs. Empress Elizabeth, Sisi, had definetelly one of the most beautiful hair in the whole Europe at that time. She was also called to be the Europes most beautiful woman. Empress Elizabeth and French empress Eugenie were the two most beautiful competitive crown-heads on the continent, but Sisi won Eugenie in many ways: she had that so admired thin waist, beutiful face, perfect skin, shining eyes, fragile hands, good taste in fashion and of course, long welltreated hair. Eugenie was the one to start haute couture fashion with Englishman Charles Frederick Worth, who became popular among aristocrats after Eugenie ordered few gowns from him. Sisi also wear Worths dresses, like on the day she was coronated to be the queen of Hungary.

On this blog you will find different hairstyles for long hair. I try to find hairstyles which looks best with blonde hair, but of course all these hairstyles can be done to the other haircolours as well. Then one must take on consider, how the hairstyle appears or how the one detail of the haistyle will appear. For example with black hair yu do not always see every detail in the hair, because the shades aren´t as strong as in other haircolours.

For very long time I didn´t know what to do with my hair: I almost hated my hair, and sometimes I really did. It was hard to combine the desire of very long hair and modern hairstyle trends. Then I realised: you can do a lot with long hair and it doesn´t have to be the latest fashion. Without cutting it is almost impossible. I challenged myself to do a different hairstyle every day. It became like a hobby to me and I promise to myself, that if I am still interested on this thing by the end of the year, I will publish a blog. So, I did it. When I did a new hairstyle, I photographed it. From now on I will publish these pictures one at a time, but will also continue the project doing new hairstyles.

I get my inspiration for the new hairstyles mainly from the Internet. Google search and various Youtube videos have been more that helpful in searching new ideas. For historical hairstyles I use, besides the Internet, books. I have fell in love with this book Richard Corson book Fashion in hair – The first five thousand years. It is an illustrated book hwre you can find both womens and mens hairstyles through the ages. I found is from our local university library ans just love it, and want to have it to my bookself also! Maybe someday...

Each hairstyle will be rated in different categories with number from 1(lowest rate) to 5 (best rate). The categories are:

- Making time (1 slow to make - 5 quick to make). If I remember, I will also check the exact time which was used to do the hairstyle. The separation to the active time and total time like on recipes would be good to use, espesially when you have haistyles where you let is stay for a while.
- Easyness (1 hard to make - 5 easy to make). On this cateory I try to be as objective as I can. The rates are from the beginners point of view and I will mention, if hairstyle is lot of easier to make when you have little bite more experience or not.
- Durability (1 loses its form easily – 5 keeps it form). Can you jump with this hairstyle on? Can you shake your head with it and possibly even sleep with it?

Hope you will enjoy the blog and find ideas/ help to your own hair!
